After delay, state implements nursing home staffing rules
April 5, 2022 – In January, a new law was supposed to take effect requiring nursing homes adhere to minimum staffing ratios and funding levels set by state lawmakers and then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2021, but Gov. Kathy Hochul repeatedly delayed the implementation of those requirements. USA Today Network health care reporter David Robinson explains why the governor pushed back the new rules and considered how state regulators will approach the issue now that the requirements are being implemented.
