New York pandemic advisor joins state office of public health
A professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at UAlbany School of Public Health is officially joining the Cuomo administration after advising the state’s pandemic response for more than a year.
Dr. Eli Rosenberg, who served on the governor’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution task force and got a shout out in a PowerPoint presentation by the governor in May 2020, is taking on the role of Deputy Director for Science with the state’s Office of Public Health. He will retain his title of associate professor at UAlbany and teach some courses, but his day-to-day work will be with the state Department of Health, according to the university.
Fans of The Capitol Pressroom will recognize Rosenberg’s name from his numerous appearances on the show, including a recent conversation where he was highly critical of a pandemic decision by governor. We wish him the best on his new job and look forward to the day he stops cutting his own hair.
