Cuomo admin sued for refusing to offer gender inclusive assistance form
Mar. 31, 2021 – The state’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance is facing a lawsuit over its computer programs that force New Yorkers to choose male or female as their gender identity when applying for assistance. Jules Donahue, a nonbinary New Yorker who is a plaintiff in the case, and Jose Abrigo, Director of LGBTQ/HIV Advocacy at Legal Services NYC’s Manhattan Office, explained why this forces nonbinary New Yorkers to choose an incorrect gender identifier while under oath.
