May 4, 2020: Cuomo faces continued pressure to release prisoners over COVID-19 fears

The Legal Aid Society has filed 40 clemency applications for New Yorkers currently incarcerated and are near their release date or are a member of an at-risk population. Stefen Short, Staff Attorney in Legal Aid’s Prisoners’ Rights Project, explained why the organization is pushing for clemency during the pandemic.
