Foreclosure prevention services subject to budget gamesmanship

March 12, 2024 – The Homeowner Protection Program, which provides legal and counseling services to New Yorkers at risk of losing their homes, is regularly funded in the state budget, but every year its future is subject to negotiations between the governor and state lawmakers.
