Feds give New York new latitude with Medicaid spending

Jan. 30, 2024 – After more than a year of negotiations, federal officials in January approved a state waiver designed to give the Hochul administration more flexibility to spend $7.5 billion in Medicaid money. To explain the significance of the waiver and why New York needs permission to administer its Medicaid program, we spoke with Lisa Wickens-Alteri, founder and president of Capital Health Consulting.
