New York’s standards for forensic evidence evaluation

October 5, 2023 – For nearly 30 years, the state Commission on Forensic Science has been responsible for setting minimum standards for public laboratories used to analyze evidence in criminal cases, but are those standards meaningful? We answer that question and peel back the work of the commission with Jessica Goldthwaite, staff attorney with the DNA Unit of the Legal Aid Society, who serves on the commission.
