Lackluster state support for community development institutions

Sept. 28, 2023 – Gov. Kathy Hochul is being urged to invest state resources into community development financial institutions, which cater to New Yorkers disproportionately overlooked by traditionally banking. We consider what this investment could look like with Jorge Vasquez Jr., chairman of the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union, and Andy Morrison, associate director of the New Economy Project.
