New York GOP balk at Democratic response to migrant crisis

September 6, 2023 – State Sen. Dean Murray, a Long Island Republican, is calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul to push federal officials to more strictly regulate immigration and wants the state to invest in resources into adjudicating the asylum claims of the influx of migrants. He is also joining the minority conferences in both houses of the state legislature in urging state lawmakers to reconvene for a special session.
