Avoiding mistakes of the past in Syracuse

August 24, 2023 – Plans for land that was either undesirable or inaccessible in Syracuse before the planned demolition of an elevated highway are raising concerns about access to affordable housing and retaining the local community makeup, according to Lanessa Owens-Chaplin, director of the racial justice center for the New York Civil Liberties Union.
