Rethinking shark fishing regulations

June 16, 2023 – In order to better protect regulated sharks off the coast of New York, the state is proposing new fishing rules for recreational anglers. The changes include restrictions on the use of drones, chum and certain heavy gear, according to Chris Scott, a supervising biologist at the Division of Marine Resources for the State Department of Environmental Conservation.
