Road to rent control stops in Kingston

Dec. 13, 2022 – Citizen Action of New York’s Tyler Vanderhaag and Rebecca Garrard discuss how the Hudson Valley city of Kingston took advantage of a 2019 state law to create a state board responsible for evaluating rents in certain apartments and determining what tenants should be paying. They also respond to the legal challenge facing the board’s work and consider if these boards should be replicated in upstate New York.
