Libraries look to meet the digital demands of patrons
Jan. 12, 2021 – At the end of 2021, Gov. Kathy Hochul vetoed a bill that would have changed the bargaining dynamic between e-book publishers and public libraries that were looking to license the digital materials for their patrons. Nassau Library System Director Caroline Ashby and New York Library Association Director of Government Relations & Advocacy Briana McNamee explain how the legislation would have made it easier to obtain e-books and discuss next steps for their campaign.
