Dec. 23, 2021 – After more than 50 years in office – making him the longest serving state lawmakers in New York history – Assemblyman Dick Gottfried is retiring at the end of 2022. We talked with the Manhattan Democrat about his achievements in office, his regrets and serving as a progressive mentor to young liberals. We also talked about his work-life balance, the origin of his beard, when he is “Dick” and when he is “Richard,” who controls his Twitter account and his favorite journalists.
