Former DEC commissioner reflects on career in public service

October 19, 2021 – In light of his retirement as head of the New York Offshore Wind Alliance, we’re taking a trip back in time with Joe Martens to his time as the commissioner of the state Department of Environmental Conservation, from the spring of 2011 to the summer of 2015. He talks about the ban on fracking, dealing with less than ideal staffing levels and his big regret leading the department.
