Lawmaker hopes to revisit the Lt. Gov appointment process
August 16, 2021 – Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul plans on selecting her own successor when she becomes governor, a power that has only been exercised once before in New York and isn’t specifically written into the state constitution. Sen. Joe Griffo, a central New York Republican, wants to codify a process that includes input from the state Legislature.
