Lawmakers hope to shift more early intervention costs to insurers

July 21, 2021 – Early intervention services are required for young children with developmental disabilities and delays, but the federal government doesn’t mandate who pays the bill, so in New York it usually falls on taxpayers.

Brigit Hurley, senior director of advocacy and program for The Children’s Agenda, breaks down legislation awaiting the governor’s signature that would shift more of the burden to insurance companies.
