Activists fear New York will waste millions of opioid settlement funds
April 20, 2021 – New York is starting to receive millions of dollars from legal settlements with companies for their role in contributing to the opioid epidemic and recovery activists are worried that the state will waste the opportunity to invest these resources into prevention and treatment services.
Ashley Livingston, co-chair of Friends of Recovery Warren and Washington Counties, explains how the state budget allocated $32 million in settlement money and what should be done moving forward.
