Medication assisted treatment can help a person living with a substance use disorder through the process of ending their use of substances like opioids, tobacco, or alcohol. Sen. Pete Harckham (D-South Salem), chair of the Senate Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Committee and co-chair of the Joint Senate Task Force on Opioids, Addiction and Overdose Prevention, discussed the next steps to expanding access to medication assisted treatment and the other issues he is following.
